1. The searching method for 'name' and 'registration number' is keyword search.

2. Under the Minor Works Control System, minor works are classified into three classes according to their scale, complexity and risk to safety and are subject to different degrees of control.
 
3. Minor works are grouped into seven types (i.e. Type A, B, C, D, E, F and G) according to their nature. The size, location and respective requirements of each item of minor works are set out in Schedule 1 of the Building (Minor Works) Regulation.
 
4. Register of Minor Works Contractors include Register of Minor Works Contractors (Individual) and Register of Minor Works Contractors (Company). Register of Minor Works Contractors (Individual) are registered in the name of an individual self-employed worker for carrying out various items of Class III minor works only (i.e. items 3.xx). On the other hand, Register of Minor Works Contractors (Company) are registered in the name of a company for carrying out various types (seven types from A to G) and classes (I, II and III) of minor works.
 
5. Class III minor works (i.e. item 3.xx) are mainly common household minor works e.g. erection of supporting frames for air-conditioners, drying racks and window canopies. The size, location and respective requirements of each item of minor works are set out in Schedule 1 of the Building (Minor Works) Regulation. Class III minor works may be carried out by a Registered Minor Works Contractor (Individual) or a Registered Minor Works Contractor (Company). This list enables searching for Register of Minor Works Contractors (Individual) only.
 
6. The "Business Location (District)" box is for searching Register of Minor Works Contractors in the specified district. The search function for "Business Location (District)" of Register of General Building Contractors and Register of Specialist Contractors will be available in due course.
 
 
Remarks on the registers :
 
1. The information in the Remark column is provided by the person/contractor on a voluntary basis. The selection and appointment of any person/contractor in any of the lists is purely a private matter between the building owner and that person/contractor. The lists of persons/contractors, therefore, should not be regarded as recommended by the Government.
 
2. Service in Building Safety
'1' denotes the person/contractor is interested in providing services in the removal of unauthorised building works and carrying out necessary consequential reinstatement works.
'2' denotes the person/contractor is interested in providing services in the maintenance and repair of buildings and drainage.
'3' denotes the person/contractor is interested in providing services in the maintenance and repair of slopes associated with buildings.
'4' denotes the person/contractor is interested in providing services in the maintenance and repair of aluminium windows.
'-' denotes the person/contractor does not consent to the disclosure of such information.
 
3. # denotes no authorised signatory is acting for the registered contractor - If no authorised signatory acts for a registered contractor for the purposes of the Buildings Ordinance (BO), the registered contractor must cease all building works and street works under the BO immediately.
 
4. @ denotes application for retention/renewal has been made - If an authorised person/structural engineer/geotechnical engineer/inspector/contractor has made an application for retention/renewal within the statutory time limit, his registration will continue to be in force until his application for retention/renewal is finalised by the Building Authority even if the expiry date shown above has elapsed.
 
5. Service in Fire Safety Improvement
'✓' denotes the person/contractor is interested in providing services in the fire safety improvement works required under the Fire Safety (Commercial Premises) Ordinance, Cap.502 and Fire Safety (Buildings) Ordinance, Cap.572.
 
6. Service under MBIS
'✓'denotes the RI had provided related services under the MBIS, but should not be regarded as a recommendation by the Government of his services. Under the MBIS, RIs who had or had not provided related services are qualified for carrying out services.
